A fusion of the most delicate fare combined with exotic flavours and enhanced with the finest South African wines make Thula Thula one of the most renowned gourmet destinations in KwaZulu-Natal.


      

Our superb menus offer a great selection of seafood, venison and the best vegeterian dishes.From our Seafood Bouillabaisse Creole to our famous Oxtail Bourguignon with garlic crushed potato, our Three cheese and Pesto feuilleté on tomato compote, the Venison terrine with Marula jelly and our renowned fillet of Impala
served on sweet potato cake with a redwine and bacon sauce, the dining experience at Thula Thula is a moment to remember.

Delightful desserts include our legendary Nougat Glacé with strawberry sauce, the Sublime dark chocolate with orange coulis and the unforgettable Cappuccino ice cream with hot chocolate sauce or the Chantilly home made ice cream with caramelized redberries....


   

On the lighter side, exotic fruit and vegetable salad with Biltong and sweet chilli dressing, chicken with lemon and honey served with curried fuit and vegetable, grilled calamari peri peri on olive polenta, chicken and mango on pumpkin cake with chocolate and chilli sauce...and the selection of sorbet granité made with fresh mango, pineapple, redberries, banana, kiwi and paw paw with granadilla pulp are just perfect to end a light meal...


 
 
 

     


Our Zulu dinner and venison braai (barbecue) around the fire in the Boma include a vast selection of delicious traditional Zulu dishes cooked on the fire in cast iron pots, accompanied with slow roasted leg of venison served with red wine sauce and marinated whole fillet cooked on the barbecue with a choice of vegetable cooked in the fire. Followed by our sublime dessert menu..

GOURMET SAFARI COOKING CLASS
 
next cooking class : 15th and 16th September 2010
 

The reserve, which offers both luxury lodge and tented camp accommodation,

is revered as one of the KwaZulu Natal?s foremost gourmet destinations.

Their Culinary Courses have been designed by charismatic owner and French trained chef,
Francoise
Malby-Anthony.

Francoise who hones her skills each year at the LeNôtre Culinary Institute in Paris , describes her cooking

as ?Franco-Zulu? inspired cuisine, and her menu includes creative interpretations of traditional dishes

such as Seafood Bouillabaisse Creole and Oxtail Bourguignon as well as sublime desserts,

including the lodge?s legendary handmade Nougat Glacé.

Under Francoise?s skilful guidance, course participants will learn the techniques of a pro,

whilst immersed in the pristine African bushveld.
 
     
 
The cost of the two night course is R5000.00 per person sharing, inclusive of :
·         full board accommodation at the Elephant Safari Lodge, including 3 gourmet meals per day

·         two x 2 h30 cooking lessons,

·         two game activities per day ( a game drive and a bush walk),

·         a champagne bush picnic lunch

·         an aromatherapy massage .

Single occupancy rates are available on request.

The course can be adapted to suit vegetarians.

Minimum 6 and maximum 10 participants .

Derived from the Zulu word meaning ?peace?, Thula Thula is situated two hours north of Durban

in a malaria free area which abounds with wildlife.
